Elevate your home cooking with this restaurant-worthy grill pan asparagus recipe. Quick and easy to prepare, this flavorful side dish will impress your guests.
Start by trimming the woody ends off of the asparagus spears and toss them in a bit of olive oil.
Preheat your grill pan over medium-high heat until it's hot, but not smoking.
Place the asparagus on the grill pan in a single layer, making sure not to overcrowd the pan. If you are grilling a large amount of asparagus, do it in batches and keep the first batches in a warm oven until all are done.
Grill the asparagus for about 4 minutes on one side, then flip them over with tongs and grill for an additional 3 minutes.
At this point, evaluate the asparagus and toss them gently as needed to ensure an even cook. Keep in mind that the surface of a grill pan may not have an even temperature, so it may be necessary to move the asparagus around to ensure an even char.
In general, you can expect to grill asparagus for a total of about 8 to 12 minutes, depending on their thickness, freshness, and your personal taste. The outside should be charred but the inside should still have a slight bite when they are done.
Remove the asparagus from the grill pan and season with a pinch of sea salt and fresh ground pepper. You can add a squeeze of lemon juice, if desired. Serve immediately and enjoy!
