A few healthy Thanksgiving recipes

I know… healthy and Thanksgiving aren’t usually found in the same sentence… But hear me out.

Thanksgiving is our family’s favorite holiday. It’s not about religion, or exchanging gifts. It’s about getting together with family and friends and celebrating the bounty of our land. A time to reflect on our lives, what we have, who we are, and be grateful for it. I do count my blessings every day, but Thanksgiving is also the opportunity to express our thankfulness to others.

The Mediterranean Diet encourages sharing meals with family, and occasionally indulging in treats you wouldn’t otherwise eat everyday. Thanksgiving is the perfect occasion to do both. It is the ultimate celebratory meal of the year at our house.

Whatever luscious dish makes you really happy, you must enjoy it that day! I will personally enjoy some of the pies my family insists that I make every year: pumpkin pie and pecan pie. These recipes do not belong on this blog though, as I haven’t found a way to make a “healthified” version that would be approved by my family. I stick to the classic recipes loaded with sugar and butter… definitely in the rare treat category!

But if you are looking for ideas of recipes that are delicious and will not break your healthy eating habits too much, here are a few of my favorite healthy Thanksgiving recipes. I guarantee they do not compromise on taste! Hope you enjoy them!
